Did Someone Try To Sabotage Russia's North Stream Gas Pipeline With An Underwater Drone
An unmanned military underwater vehicle rigged with explosives was spotted on the seabed in the vicinity of the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltics on Friday, Swedish media report. The device is expected to be disarmed on November 9.
An abandoned expendable remotely-operated mine clearance underwater vehicle allegedly with explosives onboard has been detected in multinational waters of the Baltic Sea by the Swedish Navy, Svenska Daglabet reports.
The discovery was made during a routine check of the Nord Stream pipeline. Since it was discovered in the Swedish economic zone, north of the island of Gotland, the Nord Stream pipeline operator immediately notified the Swedish military.
The type of ROV (remote operated vehicle) found near Gotland is typically used to disarm big unremovable munitions found on seabed, as the drone is blown up along with the dangerous object.

At a certain level, the staffing of government agencies, regulators,
and other public sector bodies with former Wall Streeters and various
bulge bracket bigwigs has become so ubiquitous that it’s hardly even
news.
Still, it’s worth paying attention to the dynamic because losing track of who’s really running things is a bad idea if you want to understand why it always seems like regulatory outcomes are never commensurate with the crime and if you think monetary policy and all types of other high level decisions regarding the economy are conducted at the behest of those who are ultimately beholden to the bankers.
Case in point: Less than two months ago, Harvard professor Robert S. Kaplan who until 2006 was vice chairman of none other than Goldman Sachs replaced Richard Fisher at the Dallas Fed and amusingly, Fisher went on to become an “advisor” for Barclays.
Well, with the appointment of Neel Kashkari to the Presidency of the Minneapolis branch of the Eccles cabal, we get just the latest example of what amounts to egregious regulatory capture. Here’s The New York Times attempting to be polite about it:
Mr. Kashkari is the third new president of a regional reserve bank named this year, and all three of the men previously worked at Goldman Sachs. The Philadelphia Fed in March appointed Patrick Harker, a former Goldman trustee, as its new president. The Dallas Fed in August selected Robert Kaplan, a former Goldman vice chairman.
Yes, "all three previously worked at Goldman Sachs."
As of course did the second most powerful central banker on the planet... and as did the Treasury Secretary that, with the help of Kashkari, engineered Wall Street's bailout in 2008...

November 10, 2015 "Information Clearing House" - "WSWS" - US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter delivered a pointed warning of future wars Saturday in an address to a forum at the Reagan Library in southern California. The reckless and provocative character of the Pentagon chief’s speech is underscored by the targets of his saber-rattling: Russia, with the world’s second largest stockpile of nuclear weapons, and China with the third.

Giving only brief mention of the ongoing US wars in Afghanistan and against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Carter said he wanted “to focus my remarks this afternoon on another kind of innovation for the future, which is how we’re responding to Russia, one source of today’s turbulence, and China’s rise, which is driving a transition in the Asia-Pacific.”

The defense secretary claimed that both Russia and China, in different ways, were challenging the foundations of international order laid down by successive US administrations throughout the period since the end of World War II. “The principles that serve as that order’s foundation,” he said, “including peaceful resolution of disputes, freedom from coercion, respect for state sovereignty, freedom of navigation and overflight–are not abstractions, nor are they subject to the whims of any one country.”

According to Carter, “Russia appears intent to play spoiler by flouting these principles and the international community. Meanwhile, China is a rising power, and growing more ambitious in its objectives and capabilities.”

Carter used this nonexistent danger to justify the vast US expansion of its own nuclear arsenal, by far the world’s largest, in an Obama administration initiative now estimated to cost more than $300 billion.
He then hinted enthusiastically at the potential of new weapons for use against Russia, including “new unmanned systems, a new long-range bomber, and innovation in technologies like the electromagnetic railgun, lasers, and new systems for electronic warfare, space and cyberspace, including a few surprising ones that I really can’t describe here.”
The defense secretary reiterated the US commitment to Article V of the NATO charter, which requires an all-out war by NATO in the event of a conflict between Russia and one of the Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, each ruled by rabidly anti-Russian cliques and with large Russian-speaking minorities. Few citizens of the United States—or Britain or Germany, for that matter—realize that their governments are committed to war with a nuclear-armed Russia in the event of a border clash with Estonia.

Earlier today, we reported that just after 9pm local time on Saturday
evening, a dramatic white light lit up not only all of California, but
stretches of Arizona and Nevada, in what was subsequently revealed to be
an unannounced launch of a Trident II (D5) missile from the Kentucky,
an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine situated off Point Mugu. But
while the entire internet was throttled under the weight of millions of
snapshots and short underexposed clips of the missile flight being
uploaded to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, one person captured the whole
event in its dramatic entirety on time-lapse photography.
That person was Justin Majeczky, who was conducting time-lapse photography above the Golden Gate bridge, when he noticed an unexpected object in his viewfinder: an ICBM.
The result, first noted by Foxtrot Alpha, is 3 minutes of breathtaking imagery that not only catches the missile emerging from the horzion following its submarine launch, but disappearing far off into the sky on its long voyage to the Marshall Islands.
