2015-11-28 Appointment of stuffed calves - the new medieval era...
==============
I have been reading Ivanhoe again. As a teenager, I only followed the
wildly dramatic plot. Now I also notice the comments along the way...
The book, written around 1800, describes corruption of government in
England around 1100... Among the features: appointment of "stuffed
calf" bishop in order to rob the assets of the church... A stuffed calf
used to be placed before the cow after the real calf was taken, in order to stimulate ongoing milk production, hence the name "stuffed calf" bishop...
So how many "stuffed calf" government officials do we have today in
order to enable the robbing of the people - regulators, law enforcement,
judges?
