Do you believe it is because they are denied any communication with the outside world? If so, what about the prisoner's friends and families, why don't they approach human right's groups or media etc? Do you believe it is because the family and friends actually do not know the relevant party has even been imprisoned? To the prisoner's friends and families, is the prisoner just a missing person's case? Please elaborate, thank you.Devil's Advocatenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-84879515068445931022014-05-02T23:21:30.913-07:002014-05-02T23:21:30.913-07:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03703304246280442786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-34052491367268987862013-12-08T13:45:18.878-08:002013-12-08T13:45:18.878-08:00This read was just plain scary. Which was more scary the Shuler story, or that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case of a man sentenced to death by a judge who was spared death by a jury, I'm not sure. I simply cannot believe some of the things I read regarding injustice in the United States that comes from the Justice System itself. The only comfort in all this is that Justices Sotomayor, and Breyer are seemingly awake.
As for the Shuler story, I have to wonder why the tabloids don't pick up on stories like this. I would think articles describing Alabama as currently being no different or worse than it was in the early 60's would sell their papers better than the stories they run about Miley Cyrus's hair cut.
I'm writing this comment on Dec 8, 2013 - is this guy Shuler still in jail for doing something that is obviously not a crime? I wonder if enough people in high places would be outraged enough to act if the Judge who is holding Shuler went ahead and sentenced him to death for blogging.
To all of you who may have the ability to do something that could help turn the tide, in whole or in part, when you see or hear or read about something taking place that we all must know in our hearts is an injustice, I will leave you with this: All that is necessary for the triumph of evil ….. is that good men do nothing'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-90377178058947985272013-11-12T18:21:33.905-08:002013-11-12T18:21:33.905-08:00Hey thanks for re-posting my work.Hey thanks for re-posting my work.C.V. The actual result at year’s end? Signed IGAs with the UK, Denmark, Ireland, and Mexico. Switzerland and Spain reportedly also have “initialed” agreements, whatever that means.

The Department had also expected to finalize the draft regulations applicable to foreign financial institutions (FFIs) by year’s end – but that didn’t happen either.

Oh, to be sure, we can expect that sometime in the next few days or weeks the Department will announce another IGA or that they finally have the final regulatory language all worked out. At that point, we can expect the compliance vendors – for whom FATCA promises to be a goldmine – to turn up the volume of their chorus on the need for FFIs to pony up for very expensive and (at this point unnecessary) services. But that won’t change the increasingly evident fact that FATCA is in trouble as more people, both in the U.S. and elsewhere, take notice that FATCA is sheer idiocy and does almost nothing to police actual tax evasion while imposing crippling costs on, and violating the personal privacy of, innocent institutions and persons. As I observed in a recent interview with George Prior on iExpats.com: “FATCA is a law that doesn’t achieve its purpose but does manage to hurt the U.S. and global economy, and consumers worldwide, in almost any way conceivable. If that’s not the ‘worst law ever,’ what is?” (See full text of interview and link below for additional analysis.)

Of particular note is the “fact-finding forum” in Toronto, Ontario, on December 15, 2012, hosted by the Progressive Canadian Party and its distinguished chairman, the Honourable Sinclair Stevens, and featuring presentations by Allison Christians, Professor of Law at McGill University, Abby Deshman of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and others (including me, on how FATCA can be defeated). (Commendably, the full video and transcripts have been posted by the Isaac Brock Society.) Make no mistake, CANADA is key, with other countries watching to see if Ottawa knuckles under to a unilateral, extraterritorial demand from Washington to impose billions of dollars of FATCA compliance costs on Canadian consumers and to violate the human rights guaranteed by the “True North strong and free” to citizens and residents. As Canadian media are now beginning to notice, the “massive new layer of bureaucracy” Washington threatens to impose on our close friend and ally – backed up with the threat of sanctions – has “little to do with tax fairness or cutting the [U.S.] deficit.”

This year is likely to shape up as make or break for FATCA. With a little support for the anti-FATCA campaign – at a tiny fraction of what the compliance vendors are demanding – 2013 can be the year that FATCA collapses under the weight of its own flaws, before its worst ravages can take effect.

Now that would be a happy new year!

Jim Jatras

RepealFATCA@gmail.com
www.RepealFATCA.com
@RepealFATCA
+1.202.375.1007
Human Rights Alert (NGO)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11181468334537915899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-33051021119825628852012-11-02T23:23:18.135-07:002012-11-02T23:23:18.135-07:00The scenes in this video aren't rare glimpses ...The scenes in this video aren't rare glimpses into the deadly street gang we call police. These are everyday occurrences, thousands of times a day, police abuse the citizenry, kill the unarmed, beat the mentally disabled, electrocute the elderly, break down peoples doors, kill their pets, and them more often than not. Are their any criminals that terrorize the public as badly as the police? Do criminals even exist that warrant SWAT? That warrant 10,000 SWAT raids a day across the country. Police chase people at high speeds, in cars for the most minor reasons. Recently, a high speed pursuit happened locally, where a car was traveling at 80 MPH on the freeway, so the highway patrol chased this car for forty miles, causing the driver to exceed 80 MPH. When this freeway does move, if you're not doing 80 MPH you're impeding traffic. joebananahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07258916568169115613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-40624939902743017592012-09-30T11:02:38.607-07:002012-09-30T11:02:38.607-07:00The US government is a violent creature, a vile ma...The US government is a violent creature, a vile mass murdering band of the sickest, brain damaged, psycosociopaths the human race can produce. This is not a "government", it's a pack of inbred, violent criminals, of the worst type in the history of the world. Our government is no longer beneficial to the people, the nation, or the world. It has become destructive to those ends, and has been for quite some time. It's wasteful, unaccountable, irresponsible, harmful, and deadly, beyond compare. The time has come to alter or abolish this tyrannical form of government. It wont fix itself, it wont get better. It doesn't see itself as an out of control criminal cartel, it thinks it's "protecting" us from "terrorists", when in fact it's the terrorist we need protection from. This presents a serious problem for American's,and the world. This is not going to come to a peaceful end. The only way this government solves problems is with violence. joebananahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07258916568169115613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-58683025621483445052012-08-06T19:53:24.912-07:002012-08-06T19:53:24.912-07:00some Greeks have been saying this for many years n...some Greeks have been saying this for many years now. Only the federal government has the ability to print currency via the quasi-government run Fed. That's why theres a great need to shrink the federal government and return to a dezentralized system, the economic balance of power. California is in terrible shape but its woes frail in comparison to the runaway spending in Washington.
Posted 1 hour ago By WolfBite120 (389.20)
Reply | (0) | Report | Delete

@migs1955 Idaho...I'm really not sure what images that conjures up

But I bet life is a lot more down to earth...literally!
Posted 1 hour ago By ElegantDecline (1385.48)
Reply | (0) | Report | DeleteHuman Rights Alert (NGO)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11181468334537915899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-68524826914338519242012-06-04T02:45:11.694-07:002012-06-04T02:45:11.694-07:00welcome world:)welcome world:)canbulguhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07826320232541455587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-44253375439923161962012-05-22T12:38:35.366-07:002012-05-22T12:38:35.366-07:00I saw this on the OWS web page several weeks ago a...I saw this on the OWS web page several weeks ago and was surprised. I live in Denver now but grew up in that little town in east TN (Athens) where this took place and remember many of the folks that were involved in this when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s. The comments that were added (then deleted) were correct and there has been a few books written on this as well. The Daily Post Athenian is the newspaper in that town and seems that they should have those available if they were requested to support the effort to correct the information. Amazing how the efforts of a relatively small group of former GIs were able to turn things around! Thanks for sharing that.Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08759799718217735503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-8721658830022386632012-05-05T05:01:57.734-07:002012-05-05T05:01:57.734-07:00I cannot comment on Los Angeles but in the U.K the...I cannot comment on Los Angeles but in the U.K the level of corruption and the low level of fairness and justice is appalling. READ the constitutio...What's wrong with people? READ the constitution, please. When you do you'll learn things. Things you need to know, that they didn't teach in school, or did they?
Anyhoo, The constitution is the supreme law of this nation. It's also a binding contract between you and your government. Your government has breached that contract, and your entitled to damages, but first you have to know how you were damaged. Read the constitution. Any bill, or law, that's contradictory to the constitution, is "notwithstanding", Not with standing, meaning the bill, or law has no standing, it is null, and void, unenforceable. Now when the government gives itself powers it's not entitled to, and contrary to the constitution, it ceases to be a government. It then becomes the ENEMY. The enemy comes in many different forms, from the pedophile priest, to the invisible, made up terrorists, to people within the government. Where is the last place your supposed to look for the enemy? Just because people win elections, doesn't preclude them from covert operations. And it doesn't change how the law applies. There's also a little talked about clause that states "elected
officials who support laws contrary to the constitution, no longer represent the US government. We have people we pay very well to enforce the law, every law, equally. These people aren't doing their jobs, and they still accept a paycheck, this is fraud, and dereliction of duty. If you or I did that, we'd be in jail.
And I got a tip about the corruption in Los Angeles, don't go to court, it's an organized crime syndicate. Don't believe me? Just go!joebananahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07258916568169115613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2730438587195730371.post-46550778869013862922012-01-20T03:35:32.119-08:002012-01-20T03:35:32.119-08:00Talking about crime then visit all the necessary l...Talking about crime then visit all the necessary legal offices that under government since it is the only place where crime is in large rangeDaceyhttp://www.myfhaexperts.com/noreply@blogger.com
