The United States has established a new gulag.
The United Nations Human Rights Council report (2010), called upon the United States to:
1) Restore the habeas corpus right, which originated in the Magna Carta (1215);
2) Criminalize torture, and    
3) Abolish slavery, which was never abolished through the Civil War (1861-1865)

EDITORIALReneging on Justice at Guantnamo

In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled that Guantnamo Bay prisoners who are not American citizens have the right of habeas corpus, allowing them to challenge the legality of their detention in federal court and seek release.

The power of the ruling, however, has been eviscerated… have reduced to zero the number of habeas petitions granted in the past year and a half.
