12-06-30 Police Brutality, Rhode Island
Rhode Island police officer Edward Krawetz received no jail time for this brutal assault on a handcuffed lady. Now he's fighting to keep his job so that he can protect us.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence County Grand Jury on Friday indicted a Lincoln police officer on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon - his foot - after he allegedly kicked a woman in the face.
Michael J. Healey, spokesman for Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch, said the woman was seated on a curb with her hands cuffed behind her back at the time. He said she had been taken into custody on a charge of disorderly conduct in a bar at Twin River Casino on May 31.
According to a news release issued by the Lincoln police, Krawetz was suspended without pay and he has not returned to duty since then. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Six years ago, the town settled out of court on claim filed by a teenager that Krawetz had struck him and damaged his teeth during an arrest. The teenager was later cleared of charges of assault and resisting arrest. The amount of the settlement was not disclosed
Krawetz, 40, of 429 River Rd., Lincoln, is to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Jan. 6. He has been with the department for 12½ years, according to Lincoln police Capt. Raymond Bousquet.
All comments are welcome... especially any tips regarding corruption of the courts in Los Angeles. Anonymous tips are fine. One simple way to do it is from internet cafes, etc.
