Social protest in Tel Aviv, Israel, May 23, 2012

Police in social protest in the United States.

Social protest in Tel Aviv, Israel, generally is of relatively mild nature (noted exception last week when banks were vandalized).

An official government committee was established already last year to review the underlying issues - extreme concentration of wealth in the hands of small number of tycoons in recent decades, tight relationship between such tycoons and corrupt government officials, unaffordable housing, food prices, inequality in the burden of military service, etc...

It is yet to be seen that the recommendation of the committee are implemented, and that is in part the reason for the renewed protest this year.

Although there was some police violence during the protests, the relatively unarmed police presence is a far cry from police conduct in the United States.

All comments are welcome... especially any tips regarding corruption of the courts in Los Angeles. Anonymous tips are fine. One simple way to do it is from internet cafes, etc.
