Former Israeli National Security Advisor Jacob Amidror, Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Oren, are facing subpoena in the US in a case against Bank of China!
Today's paper edition of YNET claims that Israel Ambassador to the US Michael Oren was summoned back to Jerusalem over a boiling crisis in US-Israeli relations, over Israeli non-cooperation, under Chinese pressure, with US actions against Bank of China over money laundering for Hamas.
YNET reports that Ambassdor Oren, as well as former Israeli National Security Advisor Jacob Amidror are facing the prospect of subpoena by a US court over the matter.
Israel fights to have EU and other nations treat Hamas, Hizbollah, and others as terror groups.
The US on its part, through a series of laws, is claiming jurisdiction over of all banks world-wide, under the perennial claim of fighting terror.
Under such matching interests, Israel was cooperating with the US in providing evidence against Bank of China, pertaining to its involvement in money laundering for Hamas.
However, according to Israeli paper media (but not online), the Chinese government threatened to cancel Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent visit to China, if Israel continued in cooperating with the US in this matter. Media report that Bibi folded under the pressure, preferring the budding strategic relationship with China over joining the US efforts against Bank of China.
The story has been brewing for at least a couple of months, and more recently has been escalating. Yet, it is hardly covered by media. The paucity of reporting on this story only emphasizes its overarching significance relative to Israel-US-China relationships, US efforts to control world banking operations under the guise of fighting terror, and China's quiet ascendance to dominant world power.
The report below is lame and outdated, but the only one I could find online. jz
