There is no shortage of government corruption scandals in Israel today. One of the most notorious involves former IDF Chief of Staff Gabby Ashkenazi, in a case that included the forgery and distribution of a document in effort to unlawfully influence the selection of his successor in office.
The justice and law enforcement system is dragging the case over years, and several efforts have been made to close the case without indictments. With a former President Kazav serving time in prison on sex crimes, a former Prime Minister Olmert convicted on taking bribes and sentenced to prison, and plenty of evidence of criminality by former IDF Chief of Staff Ashkenazi, it looks reasonable to establish a shadow government behind bars...
