13-07-11 NSA blackmailing Obama?

So who is in control? According to what Constitution??? It would not take an expert Kremlinologist to figure it out...
A reminder: According to the PRISM system, initial data is captured by FBI, only then routed to clients, such as FBI, CIA, NSA.
And the news comes courtesy of Russia Today... :)

The Omnipotent - FBI Director Robert Mueller III
Overstays the term limit set by Congress following the J Edgar Hoover period; investigated (and publicized the fact) President Elect Obama; deposed a CIA Director...

13-07-11 Second "Prisoner X" exposed in Israel

The Israeli Prisoner Xs should be considered a case of Castle-Basement Prisoners - a medieval practice.

Occupy Tel-Aviv Encampment, July 11 - a second prisoner, held in total isolation and anonymity was exposed.  In both cases, the prisoners were involved in serious state security violations, which impliled larger, system-wide failures of the Israeli secret services. (see below)
The Human Rights Alert (NGO) submission to the UN Human Rights Council showed thousands of detainees recrds missing, which imply large-scale violations of Human Rights.  [1].  The submission was incorporated in the Periodic Review Reposrt on Human Rights in the State of Israel with the note, "Lack of intergrity in the electronic records of the Supreme Court, the district courts and the detainees courts in Israel".  [2]
Likewise, large-scale false imprisonment in Los Angeles County, California, was one of two focus areas of the the Human Rights Alert (NGO) submission to the UN Human Rights Council.  The submission was incorporated in the Periodic Review Reposrt on Human Rights in the United States with the note, "Corruption of the courts and the legal profession and discrimination by law enforcement in Califonria". [3]
In researching the records of Los Angeles County prisoner's records, two such population of prisoners of abuse were distinguished:  First - those that are falsely imprisoned, i.e., the Rampart FIPs (Falsely Imprisoned Persons), [4] and second - CBP (Castle-Basement Prisoners), i.e., those that are held in total lawlessness and isolation.  [5]

FBI director nominee James Comey testifies that waterboarding is torture at a Senate committee hearing.
In front of a Senate panel on Tuesday, Obama’s nominee for FBI director, James B. Comey, said that while he was deputy attorney general under Dubya—and while he said it was OK to waterboard—he believed the tactic was torture. Now Comey thinks waterboarding is illegal, too. At the time, he said, it was difficult to label the technique illegal because the law itself was vague. Still, he says he told the administration to stop waterboarding. While Comey is a pick that’s actually received some bipartisan support, some Democrats are concerned with his time serving in the Bush administration.
NYT:
"Mr. Comey’s nomination has received strong bipartisan support, but some Democrats and civil liberty groups have raised questions about his role in the Bush administration. Last week, two of the Democratic senators, Richard J. Durbin of Illinois and Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, sent a letter to Mr. Comey, expressing their concern about how he approved the use of “enhanced interrogation techniques” that included waterboarding.
On Tuesday, many of the senators appeared satisfied with Mr. Comey’s answers about waterboarding, and it does not appear that the Republicans will try to block his confirmation.
Mr. Comey distinguished himself from many members of the Bush administration — and significantly raised his national profile — when he testified before the same Senate committee five years ago. His testimony was perceived as repudiating government surveillance programs.
At the hearing, about the Justice Department’s firings of several United States attorneys, Mr. Comey riveted the senators by testifying about a 2004 episode in which he thwarted Bush administration officials from persuading his ailing boss, Attorney General John Ashcroft, to sign off on an illegal data-collection program.Although Mr. Comey’s objections halted the program, it was later resumed under a similar legal framework, and senior Bush administration officials have said he raised few objections to other programs.
Mr. Comey did not provide new details about the incident on Tuesday, but he addressed the issue of government surveillance, which has become a thorny issue given a series of disclosures of classified programs by Edward J. Snowden, a former National Security Agency contractor. Mr. Comey also defended the use of surveillance programs to identify terrorists."
“I do know as a general matter that the collection of metadata and analysis of metadata is a valuable tool in counterterrorism,” he said.

13-07-10 North Carolina National Guard Rapid Reaction Force Civil Unrest Training Photos

July 3, 2013 in Headline

The following photos depict soldiers from the 252nd Combined Arms Battalion training in June for their role as a “rapid reaction force” capable of responding anywhere in the state of North Carolina within “four to eight hours with additional forces arriving within 24 to 36 hours.” The same unit trained in March to respond “to an emergency ahead of federal assets by providing site security, establishing roadblocks or checkpoints, and assisting civilian authorities in controlling civil disturbances.”

The exercises depicted below were held from June 10-14 at an abandoned shopping mall and a water treatment facility in Charlotte. Soldiers trained to suppress protesters who perform a sit-in as part of a fictional group called “The Pink Panthers.” According to the North Carolina National Guard, the exercise at the water treatment facility tests soldiers’ “ability to use nonlethal force to disperse a crowd of aggressors.” Photos of the exercise show soldiers operating from Be On the Look Out (BOLO) notices with the identities of specific individuals in the crowd, listed as “AIN Members,” that are to be targeted for arrest.
