Israeli Supreme Court hacked
Most
of the day on Sunday, the Supreme Court’s “Calendar of the Court”
showed a collection of videos about corruption of the courts and the
legal profession and in support of the anti-corruption protest
movement.
Figure. The Israeli Supreme Court’s building in Jerusalem: Dedicated in 1992, it was described by Haaretz daily architecture critic, “the big bang of bloated Israeli architecture”. It is reviled by parts of the Israeli public for what are perceived as various pagan and masonic elements, first and foremost the pyramid on its top.
_____
Tel-Aviv,
December 04 - on the night
between Saturday and Sunday, December 03, the
Israeli Supreme Court’s IT systems were hacked, and a
collection of videos, mostly
about judicial corruption, were
posted under “Calendar of
the Court”. [i]
Figure. Youtube video of a Hebrew adaptation of US Civil Rights era protest song “Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around...” on the Supreme Court’s “Calendar of the Court”. The Hebrew version condemns corruption of the judges, the state prosecution, and the police. The recording is from an April 2017 protest against the Israeli Attorney General, and it has been used to promote the Israeli anti-corruption protest movement. The subtitle of the video says: “Meeting on Saturday night at the the Attorney General’s residence”. View the video:

Youtube video of a street performance of the Hebrew adaptation of an
old Russian, anti-Czarist protest song “Fried little chick”, on
the Supreme Court’s “Calendar of the Court”. The Hebrew
version, like the Russian original, condemns corruption of the
justice and law enforcement system. It has become one of the most
popular songs of the Israeli protest movement over the past year, and
it
has been
used to promote the Israeli anti-corruption protest movement. View

The
videos were originally distributed on Facebook, where they generated
thousands and tens of thousands of views. However, the links on the
Supreme Court’s site were to their Youtube copies. Singing
some of the same songs on the street was the cause of arrest over the
past year. [ii]
Additional
videos, which were posted on the Supreme Court’s “Calendar of the
Court” included public speeches regarding judicial corruption in
Israel. [iii]
It
took until approximately 3 pm on Sunday before the videos were
removed from the Supreme Court’s calendar. None
of it was reported by main stream media.
There
was some poetic justice to the Supreme
Court’s hacking incident:
Already
the 2013 UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review report
referred to “lack of integrity of the electronic record systems of
the Supreme Court… in Israel”, based on the Human Rights Alert
(NGO) submission. [iv]
In
2014, notice
was
given to Supreme Court Presiding Justice Asher
Grunis and
Shin-Bet Head Yoram
Cohen,
regarding inside-job hacking of the Supreme Court’s IT systems by
the justices themselves, following the 2002 death of the Supreme
Court’s Chief Clerk.
[v]
The Shin-Bet responded that it has neither
charge nor
authority, pertaining tothe Supreme Court’s IT systems. Presiding
Justice of the Supreme Court failed to respond.
Likewise,
the Administration of Courts refuses to duly answer on Freedom of
Information requests:
*
Who is charged with security of the Supreme Court’s IT systems?
*
Who authorizes the publication of records on the Supreme Court’s
web site?
The
practice
of publication
of false and misleading court
records
on the Supreme Court’s web site is
conduct, which
is akin
to conduct, which is
termed in US federal law “Fraud Upon the Court”, and in some
state laws “Simulating Legal Process” (e.g., Texas Penal Code §
32.48).
The
Human Rights Alert (NGO) submission for the 2018 UN Human Rights
Council Universal Periodic Review of Israel, is likewise based on the
Israeli courts’
IT system analysis and data mining, alleging “incompetence and/or
corruption of the courts and the legal profession and discrimination
by law enforcement in Israel”. [vi]
Adequate
disclosure: the writer
was not the hacker in this incident,
but almost all the videos, which were posted on the Supreme Court’s
system were records of his various public appearances.
