2015-01-15 Los Angeles, Tel-Aviv, Berlin - internet and toilets...
====================================
In both Los Angeles and Tel-Aviv, almost any respectable cafe' offer free wi-fi, with no need for identification. The powers that be know who you are anyway... no need to introduce yourself... smile emoticon In Berlin on the other hand, the coffee shops that offer wi-fi require ID verification through SMS to your mobile phone...
Therefore, in Berlin I end up going to the Starbucks for wi-fi (I am one of the aliens with no mobile). Note: The wi-fi in Starbucks in Berlin is not through a German ISP, but through a UK one... So probably they belong to the US-Israeli type, who know who you are without the inconvenience of introduction.... smile emoticon
But here is the point: This time, it turned out that Starbucks on Alexanderplatz decided to close its toilets even for its own customers... In Los Angeles and Tel-Aviv, a restaurant, cafe' or bar with no toilets would lose it license. Apparently not in Berlin.
Instead, they sent me from Starbucks to the toilets in the U-bahn station around the block. And the toilets in the train station were a surprise - high tech, sterilizes the seat between users, offers you also antiseptic hand wash on the way out...
Pic will follow... smile emoticon
Live and learn...
