This is why we marched today for Akai Gurley:
Akaila Gurley will now grow up fatherless because the ‪#‎NYPD‬ fatally shot and killed her Dad.
The #NYPD routinely sends patrols into the stairwells of housing projects, armed and dangerously incompetent. Officer Liang discharged his pistol "accidentally" into a darkened stairwell, shooting Akai Gurley as he descended the stairs which he was using because the elevator was not working in his building.
Instead of immediately calling an ambulance, Liang chose to contact his union rep first while Akai lay dying.
