13-11-12 ISRAEL: 'Nuff with Human Rights! On with administrative detentions!

Isn't it lovely?
Surprising sequence of events in the last couple of weeks:
  • Organized Crime gang war public executions/ car bombings dramatically  increases
  • Bomb explodes under the car of State Prosecutor, who handles organized crime cases.
  • Cabinet ministers make statements to the effect that the situation amounts to "Acts of Terrorism" (usually reserved for acts by Palestinians).
  • News says Netanyahu asked the Shin Bet to help in in war on Organized Crime, but Shin Bet refuses, because of concern that in Israeli courts they would have to disclose their information sources. In the past, the Prime Minister was in command of the Shin Bet, now it appears that he is only at the position of making requests, which the Shin Bet's discretion is to deny...
  • Today's headlines in Haaretz (Hebrew paper edition only),
Aharononvich [Minister of Domestic Security] "Enough with Human Rights organizations", Police demands administrative detentions and broader authorities...
  • Headline Maariv Hebrew online version:
אהרונוביץ': אם צריך - נשתמש במעצר מנהלי נגד עבריינים
אהרונוביץ' בכנס אילת לעיתונות
