RESIDENTS OF THE SOUTH TO THE COUNTRIES OF THE UN: EXERT PRESSURE ON ISRAEL TO LIBERATE GAZA
A group of residents in the ‘Gaza Envelope’ region sent a letter on Thursday to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon, in which they asked him and all the member nations of the UN “to use the power that the organization has to move our government to end the siege (on Gaza, HM), and to advance a moral and humanitarian policy that will infuse hope into people on both sides of the border”.
The letter’s authors, activists of the group called “A Different Voice”, explain to the UN Secretary-General that they have tried numerous times in the past to appeal to the government to change direction in relation to Gaza, for the good of both peoples, but have never received a reply. For this reason, they explain, and because the siege and deteriorating situation in Gaza are “a bomb that’s ticking for all of us”, they feel constrained to ask for help from outside.
